Here is an image which shows the complete phase of the eclipse. Starting from the 1st contact the shadow of the Moon slowly crawls over the solar background as it casts the ring of fire, the characteristics of an annular solar eclipse.
The best captures of the annular phase are aligned in the middle, The 2nd Contact, the third and the last 4th contact are also depicted here in the above image. This is a small scenario of what took place on 15th January 2010 during the solar eclipse. The images are of course from Jaffna, Sri Lanka and I took this one from Shehal's album.
